International Summer School 2023     17. 9. – 23. 9. 2023

 

PHEDCS Institute organizes international summer school.

The summer school is aimed to students and professionals in the field of architecture which are focused on documentation, preservation, and restoration of cultural heritage. The students will get in touch with modern and innovative surveying methods that are used for documentation of cultural heritage.

The summer school will be placed in town Telč. The town is in UNESCO list of World Heritage.

Lecturers:

prof. Karel Pavelka (CZE)

Karel Pavelka is a professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague, and head of the Department of Geomatics. His main background is photogrammetry and laser scanning for cultural heritage. During his career, he joined many international cultural heritage projects e.g. in Syria, Iraq, and Peru. In 2011 he was a director of the 23rd CIPA Symposium in Prague.

Adam Dlesk (CZE)

Adam Dlesk is a member of the Laboratory of Photogrammetry at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU. His specialization is photogrammetric processing of analogue archival images with cultural heritage value. He developed innovative methods for photogrammetric processing of thermal infrared images. Besides that, he co-develops software for BIM in facility management.

Martina Diaz (ITA)

Martina Diaz was a Scientific Assistant at the Institute for Preservation and Construction History (IDB) at the ETH Zurich. From 2018 to 2022 she carried out a Ph.D. on the timber domes of the St. Anthony Basilica in Padua, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Between 2017 and 2019, she specialized in survey technologies by participating in international summer schools and workshops. She developed teaching and mentoring skills by assisting students in developing focus projects and elective courses at the IDB.

Andres Uueni (EST)

Andres has worked in different memory institutions, designing, and developing information systems, and led many CH digitization and documentation projects, focusing on high-resolution imaging technologies. Andres is one of the founders of Archaeovision, a company dedicated to Cultural Heritage and technology, consulting and carrying out photogrammetric and laser scanning surveys since 2014. He is also a Ph.D. candidate in the Estonian Academy of Arts which focuses on cultural heritage 3D documentation and multi-spectral imaging and he is a researcher and visiting lecturer in the academy. Andres is also the founder of MUKOLA Lab dealing with and promoting different Cultural Heritage documentation methods in the Estonian Academy of Arts.

Karel Pavelka jr. (CZE)

Ing. Karel Pavelka is a member of the Laboratory of Photogrammetry at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague. The primary focus of his research is aerial and terrestrial photogrammetry in cultural heritage applications of historical objects, GIS data visualizations, photogrammetric and laser-scanned model optimization from photogrammetry and laser scanning for visualization in virtual and augmented reality.

Karel Vach jr. (CZE)

Karel Vach jr. is a project manager of research projects in EuroGV company. The projects are aimed at developing BIM and computer-aided facility management software. He successfully implemented the software in several cultural heritage applications.
