REPORT on the activity of ISPRS Working Group

ISPRS Working Group V/6 (former V/7) is a new working group which aims to the promotion of global literacy, the progress of innovations in geospatial technologies. Our working group is focused on photogrammetry and remote sensing for implementation in the educational process of civil engineers and architects through the development of a multidisciplinary educational content that facilitates knowledge exchange between various applied sciences and organizations involved.

The background of our activity is based on our experienced leaders: Prof. Vladimir A. Seredovich, Em. Prof. Gottfried Konecny, Argina Novitskay, Dr. Karel Vach, Prof. Roman Shults and Prof. Eugene Levin. For many years, we have been preparing joint scientific conferences and other scientific cooperation.

Meetings of ISPRS Working Group V/7:

On 17 March 2017, during the first year of the international forum “GeoBuilding” in Novosibirsk and then on 21 April 2017 during the international forum “Interexpo GeoSiberia”, we had meetings and discussed the detailed plan of organization and development of our working group.

A meeting was held on December 6, 2017 at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture in Kyiv Also, where we discussed admitting into the Working group new members Jurate Visockiene and Egle Tumeliene from the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania.

Two coordination meetings were held:
On 22 March 2018, during the Second international forum “GeoBuilding” in Novosibirsk, we deepened the definitions of our main topics. Then, we prepared the task assignment for the key topics of the conference in Prague (24 – 25 September 2019).

On 26 April 2018 during the international forum “Interexpo GeoSiberia” in Novosibirsk. There we have agreed to move the planned conference from Michigan to another date. Also, we agreed on our participation of the working group in Dehradun. Then, we discussed the internal organization of our WG and financing.
The next coordination meeting was on September 2018 in Berlin during the Conference and Trade Fair for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management “Intergeo”.

ISPRS WG V/7 Report for 2020-2022
  • Things get changed, and the Working Group V/7 tries to keep the cutting-edge tendencies in remote sensing, photogrammetry, and surveying from one hand and educational technologies on the other hand. Today, the mission of the WG sounds like the promotion of global literacy and advancement of innovations in geospatial technologies for the implementation in the educational process of architects, environmental and civil (AEC) engineers, and designers through the development of multidisciplinary cutting-edge educational content that facilitates knowledge exchange between various applied sciences and organizations that are involved in.The pandemic outbreak has changed the activity of all scientific communities. Presumably, that phenomenon has played the final role in the global transfer from traditional education to hybrid. As a matter of fact, the role of digital technologies became dominant for training, regardless of the major or academic level. Therefore, we have been concentrating on various online activities for the last two years. The leading roles in the WG for the last years have been playing Karel Vach, prof. Roman Shults, prof. Vladimir A. Seredovich, and Argina Novitskay. The group has comprised a new regional coordinator from Greece. The members of the WG are the founders of the PHEDCS Institute (Photogrammetry, Education, Construction), and all pieces of training and educational seminars were organized under the auspice of WG V/7 and PHEDCS. The main activities are listed below:– 10/20-11/20 “GEODETIC SUPPORT OF UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES CONSTRUCTION” four-week online training delivered by prof. R. Shults for Ph.D. students from Satbayev University, Almaty, Kazakhstan, with certificates issuance endorsed by PHEDCS.
